Raspberry ketones have made their way into hundreds of different weight loss formulas over the last few years after they received some attention from the media which created a massive demand, despite the time that there wasn’t any conclusive evidence to support their use at the time.

Before rushing to purchase a product that advertises raspberry ketones within the formulation, it’s a good idea to learn more about this substance and find out about the latest that science has discovered about the benefits of its use. This way, you will know exactly what to expect as well as whether or not it would be worth your while to actually use it.

The claims about raspberry ketones are quite wide. Some supplements claim that they will prevent weight gain while others say that they will help to melt fat away. All of this, often regardless of what foods are being eaten. That said, other supplements make more realistic claims, such as that this diet pill ingredient will boost the body’s natural ability to burn fat when it is used along with exercise. How much can be believed from any of these claims?

Experts are currently saying that there isn’t yet any evidence that would suggest that there are any weight loss benefits to raspberry ketones. While this doesn’t necessarily mean that the ingredient won’t work, it does mean that a certain level of wishful thinking will be required to accompany the purchase and use of products based on this substance.

There has been some research, but so far it has been on a small scale and has been nothing greater than preliminary. More study would absolutely be required before anything associating with raspberry ketones with weight loss could be considered factual.

One limited study ran for 4 weeks and gave dieters 200 milligrams of raspberry ketones in combination with a daily 1,200 mg of vitamin C. They were then monitored for lost overall weight and lost body fat. Unfortunately, standard good scientific practice was not followed within this study, so it was unclear whether any weight loss benefits that were obtained by the dieters were the result of exercise, calorie reduced dieting, vitamin C, raspberry ketones, or a combination of any of those things.

Overall, the use of this diet pill ingredient is considered to be safe, though there haven’t been any actual studies to look into the safety of its short or long term use.
