Lycii is an ingredient commonly used for a number of different purposes. It can be found in a large and growing number of different supplement formulas, including those for weight loss. Lycii is actually a berry that grows on a plant that can be found in China and nearby regions. The plant is a kind of deciduous shrub which produces the bright red colored lycii berry.

The lycii berry has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for hundreds of years, if not longer. It is used for a number of different purposes, but as of yet there is inadequate scientific study to support the use of this berry for any reason.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that it won’t actually work as a treatment. However, what it does mean is that there isn’t any proof to show that it does or does not work for any specific treatment. Moreover, this means that if it is effective for a certain purpose, science has yet to identify how much lycii is needed to produce those benefits, whether it is safe for the average user, what side effects it might have and whether or not it becomes toxic after a certain point. It has already been associated with some side effects such as nausea and vomiting.

Still, many people still buy supplements containing lycii in order to treat poor blood circulation, hypertension, diabetes, fever, malaria, and even some forms of cancer. It can also be found in certain nonprescription products sold for the treatment of sweating, dizziness, irritability, erectile dysfunction, tinnitus, nosebleeds and, of course, weight loss.

The lycii berry itself, if consumed as a food, is quite high in many nutrients such as antioxidants. They’re consumed fresh and dried, raw and cooked. Still, just because it is a food that is high in nutrients it doesn’t necessarily mean it has any medicinal uses.

While there has been some preliminary research conducted on the use of the lycii berry, the body of evidence remains exceptionally limited at this point. Moreover, the number of studies conducted specifically on its use in weight loss is even more limited. Among the most convincing of the studies was a very small one that showed that drinking lycii berry juice alongside a diet and exercise program may help overweight adults to shrink their waists.

However, the study wasn’t large enough to be considered conclusive. It was only just barely enough to justify further research – studies that have not yet been completed. While it is likely safe when taken as a food, it isn’t known whether or not the same can be said about taking it in supplements.
